Out Of Place, Out Of Mind Market11
"God I hate wandering from home." Kaseki thought. He smiled at his words. "God... I am a god here..." He looked around at the grand marketplace. It was as if he saw it in a dream. It was full of foods. Plants littered the streets. Everyone seemed filthy rich or dirt poor. There was no middle class Kaseki could see. But there was peasants walking with jewels, and someone who was dressed like a king trying to haggle for some food. It was an odd place. "I would never let such things happen in my city." Kaseki said softly.

It was weird, just over a few months ago he found that frozen wasteland. All he did was trip and kill a few gods by accident. And now he was the "Kind King". It made him smile. That city loved him, and he loved them too. "I wonder what this place has to offer." he whispered to himself.

Alyssia was in Black Cat Bay, obviously, a city dedicated to the goddess Bastet but despite that it was hardly a wonderful utopia to live in. There was still poverty here, or else why would people be begging on the streets? And of course there was still crime here, after all if there wasn't Alyssia wouldn't A.Be in Black Cat Bay in the first place and B.Would be out of the job, which she just couldn't be having any time soon. The fact this city still had all of these problems despite being utterly dedicated to Bastet was one of the reasons why Alyssia didn't believe in any deity what so ever, they seemed to do next to nothing while it was the ordinary mortals that did all of the work. Not to sound like a drama queen but when she walked past places where people would devoutly pray to one goddess or another Alyssia found herself sickened by the mindlessness of it, people foolishly begging others to improve their lives instead of working hard to make it better themselves. It was why Alyssia disliked religion, people used it as an excuse to forgo responsibility for their own actions.

Alyssia was actually here in Black Cat Bay to assassinate someone but as was her style of work style Alyssia always got as much time as she needed to kill the target, demanding full payment up front and additional fees after the task was done, depending upon difficulty of the assassination. The advantage of the way Alyssia did her business was that she was able to plan the assassination out her way, after all it was unlikely the people who employed her would have any notion of how to actually get the task done. This didn't stop some people from being demanding and angry however, as Alyssia had a few clients that were the "YOU'LL KILL THEM NOW AND GET IT DONE QUICKLY" which sadly just wasn't good for Alyssia so those clients tended to find themselves not getting any help from Alyssia what so ever, which of course ended in violence and then death, but not on the part of the black haired females. Alyssia confidently walked down the streets, decked out in a pair of black jeans and a shirt, a smile on her face as she passed by Kaseki. Alyssia didn't know this Kaseki person hence why she didn't stop to talk to them, however the female did stop to look at a stall nearby, perusing the flowers there.

Kaseki felt an odd thing fill the air. He wanted to cough but he held it in. It was a darkness that seemed to brush past him. He turned and saw a simple female go to sniff flowers. "Shadows..." he thought to himself. "...I grow tired of finding them." He hated darkness, the light, and everything that spelled out a hero or a villain. In this world you were good or evil, there was no neutrality, but Kaseki would change that soon enough. He felt the cold metal of his sword slapping against his back. He released his blade and slowly uncovered it from under his back. He had a habit of doing things oddly, and wearing a backmounted sword upside down was one of them.

This city was too corrupt for him to deal with. His mind was full of the people of his protected city. He thought of Martha, the young orphans girl whose parents bled to death. Kaseki happened to bury the bodies on his travels in the frozen wasteland, he was just moving around a bunch of snow. Then there was scout, a man of ice. He was frozen, only to have Kaseki partially thaw him out. Just enough to live, and enough to bare the cold for years without warmth. Kaseki had a weird thing with helping people, even if it was just by happenstance.

He walked over to a small cart of fruits. Kaseki grabbed a large rotten fruit and tossed the merchant at least triple the worth of the thing. "May you see better days." Kaseki said to the malnourished woman. Kaseki had no need for food, for he was a plant. He had no need for water, for he could create endless amounts.

But that never meant he never liked the taste of drinks and foods.

Athena woke up in the morning feeling rather refreshed. Today was a day her bakery was usually closed, but she was still going to bake today. Not because she had any orders that needed to be done, but she wanted to advertise a bit today, and what better way to do that then with free treats? She got up, cleaned herself off, dressed in slightly eye catching clothes and walked down stairs to her store. Athena rather liked living above her store, it was convenient. She walked into her bakery and tied on an apron. Sadly her aprons where a bit on the small side so it was wrapped tightly on her body. She got out her ingredients before heading back into the walk in fridge and pulling out a large metal sealed jug. It contained her own milk, freshly collected the day prior. Despite her lack of assets Athena was always surprised on how much she produced. The sad fact due to the small amount she used she usually ended up wasting most of it. She poured the ingredients and right at the end added a little bit of her own milk to the mix. It would only be 5 percent of the total milk that went into the cake but it was just enough for people to want more without addiction. With in a couple more moments she poured the villain cake batter onto trays and stuck them in the oven before starting to make the icing. The icing was made of chocolate for a classic mix of vanilla and chocolate. She had the same amount of her milk in the icing, with about 95 percent of it being normal milk. She sampled a bit of the milk chocolate icing and smiled, it tasted perfect.

Athena walked the traffic outside as she waited for the cakes to finish. After a few moments she decided to set up the stand outside, considering she still had like 30 minutes to kill. By the time she was set up the cakes where almost done. Once the cakes where done and cooled off it was around 1 in the afternoon. She decorated the cakes and put some of them on trays before bring them outside. She still had some inside the bakery, if she ran out she would need to run in and cut them up. She set up the rest of the stand and began to advertise.

"Come one and all! Come get your sample of the best cakes you will ever taste! You can only find these succulent morsels at the Dairy Farm Bakery! Made with only the best ingedients!" said Athena. A could of people went up and tried the cakes, all of them leaving happy.

"You madam in the black jeans! Have you tried these cakes yet? I made them by my own hand to honor the goddess Bastet! And you! Sir in the black cloak! Why don't you come on over and get some of the best sweets you'll taste in your life." said Athena with a wink, trying to work the crowd.

Out Of Place, Out Of Mind Empty Re: Out Of Place, Out Of Mind

The cat goddess was feeling a rush of energy surge through her veins as soon as word came to her of Xi's, the King God of the Mystic Isles, disappearance. Her mouth twitched in dark amusement and her tail swished in pure yet reined excitement. "Are you positively sure?" she asked Xi's disciple. She just had to make sure. If Xi was gone then that would mean... "You tell nothing but the truth?" She pressed on as her claws flashed in a warning. The man nodded meekly. Why had he to lie? "H-He is gone, goddess... B-Bastet..!" he trembled, "L-Lord Xi... is gone..." Bastet rose from her throne with a sinister smile dancing across her lips. Bastet was the only goddess left in the Mystic Isles meaning that she had ascended in rank. This news pleased her to no avail and she would see to it that this man was well rewarded for coming to her.  "Thank you," she said as she turned away from the man. "Your information has been quite useful." She strode towards the temple door only to be stopped by the man's pleading word. "W-Will you h-help us, G-Goddess Bastet..? W-Will you h-help us find our god?" The man's words were soft and if she didn't know better, she would see this as a form of begging. The thought made her gag. Bastet stopped and did not face him at all. "We shall see." Bastet said simply, "I make no promises." With those words, she exited to temple, morphed into her cat form, and disappeared into the bustling streets of Black Cat Bay.

Bastet explored the city and couldn't help but frown. The city needed improvement and now that she had taken control, she could fix this place up however she liked. After all, she only deserved the best. She had not been wandering the streets for very long when sweet aromas wafted through the air making her mouth water. She followed the heavenly scent until arriving at a homey looking bakery. "Come one and all! Come get your sample of the best cakes you will ever taste! You can only find these succulent morsels at the Dairy Farm Bakery! Made with only the best ingedients!" Bastet heard a woman call out as she handed out the sweets. This peaked Bastet's curiosity and made her way to the enterance of the store expectantly as she tried not to get trampled by the crowds of feet. "You madam in the black jeans! Have you tried these cakes yet? I made them by my own hand to honor the goddess Bastet! And you! Sir in the black cloak! Why don't you come on over and get some of the best sweets you'll taste in your life." The woman contiunued as she tried working up the crowd. The cat goddess sat at the woman's feet and looked up expectantly. "Hello~' she said with a cheshire grin as the baker looked down, "I'd like a taste myself~"

Out Of Place, Out Of Mind Empty Re: Out Of Place, Out Of Mind

Post by Lunar Cataphract Mon Nov 03, 2014 5:45 pm

Despite how she was leaning over the flower stall Alyssia was still paying attention to the people near by, specifically the one known as Kaseki with his sword and black cloak. The reason why such an amount of attention was being given towards this Kaseki, not that Alyssia knew his name, was because he had a sword and that made him a risk which I'll admit sounds paranoid on Alyssia's part but in her line of work a healthy dose of paranoia helped keep you alive and really that was how you made it as an assassin. Alyssia was sure why the man in the black cloak bought a rotten vegetable for more than it was worth, perhaps he had been conned or maybe he was jut loose with his money? Either way Alyssia chuckled, finding amusement in how Kaseki wasted so much money because it was such an alien thing to Alyssia, she was rather selfish and greedy with her money.

Stepping away from the flowers and their rather lovely scent Alyssia decided today would be a good chance to scope out the area around her target's place of residence, hence why she started walking down the street. Before Alyssia got a few feet away she heard something that made her blood boil, a silly baker hawking their wares in the street which at first may no seem like something worth getting angry over but the fact that baker had made her cakes to honour Bastet which was made the thief's blood burn in rage. As stated before Alyssia hated mortals doing things for gods and goddess especially when said deities didn't even care, beyond using it to raise popularity or their own power. Alyssia sighed and turned towards the female baker, picking up one of the cakes offered. "It's a shame you made such lovely treats for a goddess, it is truly saddening." With an edge like steel to her voice Alyssia scowled disapprovingly at Athena, before throwing the cake to the ground and crushing it. And with that said and done Alyssia started to walk away, ignoring the foolish sheep flocking around her.

Alyssia didn't care that some people were shouting at her, yelling that she was a blasphemous cur who should be punished for her insolence but the women in black cared very little for the baaing of sheep mindlessly walking towards the slaughter house, if they wanted to foolishly follow someone who probably didn't even know their name then well, that was something they were free to do. It was funny when Alyssia thought about it, other people so LOVED to defend their freedoms to the death yet when other people disagreed with them they would strive to take away that freedom, which was exactly what was happening now. Alyssia had said something the follower's of Bastet didn't like and as a result they were barking at her to shut up, basically denying her freedom of speech. Had Alyssia known that the talking cat at Athena's feet was Bastet she probably still would have spoken her "blasphemes" but for know the women with her raven hair didn't, so she just yawned and walked through the crowd ignoring the insults thrown at her.

"Hmph." Kaseki scoffed as he rested the tip of his blade on the stone ground. "The affairs of this city have been an interesting one." he said softly. He had no need to feed on goods made by creatures, only by nature. He had came to Mystic Isles to see what else the world was like, and he found his answer. There was no need to get to know other gods, especially one honored in gifts. He fed himself as he used his weapon to support his walking. These people were just as corrupt as he thought, honoring a god in hopes to reap a reward or respect.

He chewed the fruit, shifting it from side to side in his wooden mouth. It carried a unique taste that only a plant could ever enjoy without the risk of their health and wellbeing. He didn't dare turn around to acknowledge Bastet, the baker, or the girl with the shadows. They were just people lost in a world full of misuse. "A pity," he thought, "The world that seemed the most well off seemed not to be so." Kaseki's frozen city was rich. Rich in quality, not in money. His people were wealthy in heart, and carried an abundance of care. Even though they honored different sides of him, at the end of the day they still cared for the city. They did so for each other.

This city couldn't be any more than an opposite. Their god was missing, the people corrupt. The god was hailed in the tallest and largest building they had... They couldn't be more different. Icy City is where Kaseki lived, he worked along side his people, he was no better than them, and he showed them that. His home? It was the smallest house in the whole village, the people offered him a grander home, a place with them, but he chose no favorites, he took only enough to live. He gave everything to his people. "An odd world," he muttered, "... an odd world."

Out Of Place, Out Of Mind Empty Re: Out Of Place, Out Of Mind

So far she had done pretty well, she was getting her name out to new costumers. She had even seen some old and regular customers dropping buy so a small slice of free cake. But then she apparently called out to the wrong person. It seemed to go fine until the girl in black jeans she flagged down approached her. The girl had taken the cake. But instead of eating the cake, the girl threw it on the ground, berating her for making it in honor of a goddess. To say it crushed Athena would be a bit of a understatement, her ears went back and she teared up slightly. She had put a lot of work into the cake. Heck she literally put a bit of herself into it. Even if it was made to honor Bastet, it was a free slice of cake! But the crowd seemed to be mostly on her side tough, so that cheered her up a bit.

"Just because you don't support Bastet, doesn't mean you can enjoy a slice of cake..." said Athena, trailing off. It was she could really force herself to say. The man in the black robe had just sat back and watched it all happen. Athena wondered what was with him. He just seemed content chewing on what was obviously a rotten fruit.

But then Athena let out a small yelp of surprise and she heard a voice, really close to her. She staggered a bit, almost trampling the source of the voice. She looked down to see a cat dressed in fancy jewels,. Athena wondered what greeted her. But then the cat spoke again, saying it would like a taste for itself. At first there was look of confusion on Athena's face. But it shortly turned to one of shock. Her mind went to one possible conclusion.

    "B-Bastet...?"
asked Athena quietly in wonder. Blushing slightly she collected the best looking slice of cake she could find from the bunch. Once she found the piece with the perfect balance of icing and cake she knelt on one knee and held it out to the small talking cat. She held the cake out to what Athena hoped was the goddess and not her going mad.

"I-If you like it I-I would be honored to give you more! I could give you an entire cake!" said Athena tripping over her words. If this really was Bastet... well Athena might faint.

"If there is anything, I mean anything you want from my store I will be honored to give it to you my lady." said Athena, doing her best to be respectful to what she thought was the goddess. However of she was wrong she would look and feel like a moron. Some of the crowd got confused by Athena's change in behavior and seemingly hiding behind a table. Some people took it as a chance to take a second slice of cake.
